This month, NYSIM would like to welcome Ms. Porsche Wilder to our Administrative team. Ms. Wilder is an administrative professional with 7 years of experience coordinating administrative functions and supporting leadership. Prior to joining the NYSIM team, Porsche worked as an office administrator for a non-profit organization where she was responsible for general office and leadership support, preparing reports, creating and distributing correspondence, and creating graphic design work. NYSIM is grateful and excited for all that Porsche brings to our Administrative team as our newest Office Assistant (OA). Welcome, Porsche! Good luck and Thank You!

In late January 2019, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) held its annual conference for the advancement of simulation in healthcare. At IMSH, simulation professionals come together to network and explore best practices, advances in science and technology in healthcare simulation, and more. This year, NYU and NYSIM’s Night-onCall (NOC) team was recognized for one such innovation in simulation. NOC researchers recently published the first in a series of manuscripts and projects reporting on the significance of a simulated Night-onCall for medical students transitioning to residency. What began as a research study at NYU has now become a collaboration with several medical schools who are implementing it, or variations of NOC. NOC is now officially part of the NYU undergraduate medical curriculum for near-graduating medical students.
Congratulations to all, and great work at #IMSH2019!

To kick off the New Year, we wanted to spotlight one of our Simulation Operations Associate's (SOA) innovative work, often utilized in order to meet the learning needs and objectives of new clients and programs at NYSIM. On January 30th, NYSIM hosted a medical device company's training for their marketing executives. They requested ICU and NICU setups, with the goal that their marketing personnel would encounter the emotional intensity of these patient experiences via simulated scenarios utilizing their medical devices. NYSIM's Senior Simulation Operations Associate, Cynthia Reyes took the lead in creating said requested environments. The group was so impressed with the setup and the overall day, that they shared pictures with their colleagues, and talks are currently underway for hosting another program for the company's research and development team. Check out some pictures of her creative setups to the right. Great work, Cynthia!
