NYSIM Simulation Technologies and Operations (STO) Course

This 1-day NYSIM STO Course is the ideal immersive experience for all levels of simulation support staff, instructors, and faculty responsible for managing simulations at their own institutions or here at NYSIM. This is a HANDS-ON introductory course focusing on basic simulation technologies and operations. Logistically, it functions as a workshop where participants can explore and learn how to operate a variety of human patient simulators (manikins) and manage simulation technologies such as control computers, audio-visual equipment, and networking technologies. Participants will also learn how to systematically prepare a realistic simulation environment. Join us and gain the tools and confidence to support a high-quality simulation experience!

Intended Audience:
Simulation support staff (including simulation technicians, instructors, coordinators, and other support staff) and faculty responsible for the implementation and delivery of a simulation activity through the application of simulation technologies such as human patient simulators, control computers, audio-visual equipment, and networking technologies.

  • Explain key elements of a high-quality simulation experience
  • Prepare a realistic simulation environment using a systematic approach
  • Operate a variety of human patient simulators (manikins)
  • Manage simulation technologies such as control computers, audio-visual equipment, and networking technologies
  • Summarize strategies to support a high-quality simulation experience
  • Discuss strategies to overcome challenges in simulation management and operations
